October 9-13, 2017

Kindergarteners are amazing. This week, uur community focus was 'compliments'. It was so sweet to hear the kids give each other compliments throughout the week.

We read all about different types of transportation in Reader's Workshop and practiced inferring, retelling, text comparison, and comprehension. We loved reading the Non-Fiction story "Transportation in My Neighborhood"
We set a new goal in writing- Using sight words! We practiced using our sight words and color words in our stories this week. The improvement week to week has been amazing!

We wrapped up our Math unit on Number Sense with some fun, engaging, math center activities. We ended the week creating a spatial sense math pumpkin craft. Look for those hanging in our hallway!

This week we learned all about Christopher Columbus! We created a circle map about facts that we learned and used those facts in our Christopher Columbus writing. On Friday we created a Columbus project to accompany our writing... I mean, how darling are these?

We were able to go to the garden on Friday. Mrs. Klein gave us a tour and then we wrote in our special garden journals. We learned how to be calm and peaceful in the garden to enjoy nature.

Every day is an adventure in Kindergarten!
