This week in Kindergarten we focused on Fire Safety. We learned about ways to be fire safe, what to do if there is a fire, and even had a special visit from the Scottsdale Fire Department! The firefighters were on duty so our truck tour was cut short as they had to respond to an emergency. How exciting!
In math we continued working on number sense with numbers 0-10. We love using hands-on math activity centers to learn.
In writing this week we created a fire safety book and also continued our writer's workshop with sentence writing. We learned that big words don't scare us! We were able to sound out and write big words like dinosaur and beautiful. We talked about perseverance and stamina in our writing, and how to use tools like our ABC charts and word walls for help.
We continued Daily 5 with lots of fun literacy activities while Mrs. Hilborn read with reading groups.
Our author study this month is Tedd Arnold. We are really enjoying his books about Huggly, Fly Guy, and more! We also have many fall and Halloween books out this month. It is so exciting to see the kinders dive into them. They are so excited to see new books each month and love to spend their extra time reading.
On Friday, we had a mystery reader come to share the story "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie" by Laura Numeroff. The KinderKids had such a fun time listening to the story from our guest mouse and were able to take home a recipe to bake their own cookies! So fun!
Isn't Kindergarten the BEST?
