This week we began 'Daily 5' Literacy centers. The kiddos were so excited to bring in their books to practice 'Read to Self'. They loved reading in 'book boats' and on our yoga mats. Each book bin also includes their own differentiated list of sight words to bring to the 'Word Work' center. This week in word work, we learned how to use the materials, so I chose the materials for them. Soon, students will be able to choose their own to use to become a better reader and writer. So exciting! Choice is so powerful for student learning! In 'Work on Writing' we made all sorts of lists and practiced color words. We listened to 'Clifford the Big Red Dog' in 'Listen to Reading'.
Practicing letters and fine motor skills using playdough to create letters.
Mrs. Hilborn's personal favorite, list-making! :)
My little Kinder Sprinkles are LOVING our author study for September- Mo Willems!
Our star of the week brought in a great estimation baggie. It is so fun to see their estimation skills grow throughout the year.
On Friday, we did a cooperative project creating 'cities' out of shapes on large paper. They look so neat! I will post pictures of them next week!
We loved learning the beginning of 'Vowel Bat' as we learned about letter 'Aa' this week! So fun!
