We were so excited to come back to school after winter break. It was fun to share stories about what we did over winter break!
Our unit this week was "Snow" and "Snowmen". We loved learning about snow and adding on to our interactive chart throughout the week.
We are making our own literacy choices in Daily 3 every day. Each day, students may choose to- read to self, buddy read, work on writing, listen to reading, or word work. Students have been so engaged and are working at their own level. The power of choice is real! We are loving Daily 3!
On Monday, we read the story "Squirrel's New Years Resolution". We discussed what a resolution was and wrote our own New Year's resolutions!
In writing, we worked on being 'Narrators' and began our unit on Narrative writing!
We are working hard on using various strategies to solve math addition problems. Math is SO FUN!
Working on drawing a picture to solve problems- this is Mrs. Hilborn with Gussie and all of her tennis balls!
What would reading be without using fun new pointers as we prepare for Valentine's Day?
We completed two writing projects this week. We read "Sneezy the Snowman" brainstormed different ways our snowman could melt. We used shaving cream and glue to create a melted snowman to go with our writing. (top) We also read "Snowmen at Night" and wrote 3 sentences about what our snowmen would do at night. We are so creative! We then created a beautiful torn paper snowman gazing at the stars.
Kindergarten is so much fun!
